At Mixtape FM, we don’t just play songs—we spin the soundtrack of your life. Whether you were a New Romantic, a headbanger, or a synth-pop addict, we’ve got the tracks that take you straight back. From the neon glow of the 80s to the grunge-soaked 90s, from ABBA to ZZ Top, every show is a carefully curated time capsule.

Before streaming, before CDs, before MP3s, there was the humble cassette—a pocket-sized revolution that let us craft our own soundtracks. From the 70s to the 90s, mixtapes were more than just compilations; they were love letters, party invitations, and sonic time capsules, all wrapped up in a spool of magnetic tape. Whether you were crafting the perfect driving playlist, declaring your undying love through song choices, or just trying to capture the Top 40 without a DJ talking over the intro, mixtapes were a rite of passage for music lovers…

Mixtape FM presents “Mixtape Classics”

This is the ultimate mixtape—thousands of tracks from the Sixties to the Nineties, but mostly the 70s, 80s & 90s, because let’s be honest, that’s when music peaked. Expect a wild ride through monster hits and feel-good anthems, the same ones we painstakingly recorded onto cassette tapes (praying the DJ wouldn’t talk over the intro), blasted from our boomboxes, and rewound with a pencil when the tape got chewed up. From ABBA to ZZ Top, this is your soundtrack—tune in, crank it up, and relive the glory days of music done right!

Live Radio

We play the tunes we grew up with as kids, influenced by our parents’ choice of music. We play Rock n Roll, Pop, Motown, Soul, Psychedelic and everything else from the decade that changed music forever!

Complied by our very own music guru (and Popmaster Champions League Finalist Radio & TV), Phil shares his personal favourites from early Punk, through the New Wave movement to the Ska revival of the late 70s and 80s. This was the music that Phil first latched on to as a teenager and provided the soundtrack for his youth. If you want to relive those days and the music of that era, this is where you will hear tracks you remember and man you don’t.

What else is a Sunday Morning for, if not listening to relaxing, laid-back tunes while you have a piece of toast, a cup of tea/coffee and read the Sunday papers. We play all those tunes that surround you in warmth and comfort, especially if you made a bit of a night of it on Saturday!

The Vintage Blast! With Phil Mears

This is our flagship show, with Phil Mears. Every Friday Phil will play the music we listened to back in the day, with every track hand-picked to send you into your weekend with a Blast! Phil has his great features, including:

  • Album of the Week – This will be an album that shaped our childhood/youth and Phil plays 3 tracks and talks about the history of the album

  • 4 Minute Warming – This is where we take 4 minutes to share your tale of gratitude for someone special and play a track for them
